Rugby Tour Day 1 In the morning we set off at about 10:45am and a few hours later we arrived at the boarding school, Newlands in Seaford. A man called Mr Price showed us to our dormitories and gave us some time to settle down and unpack. Sometime later we played the match. The first half we were going down hill, had the sun in our eyes but receiving the kick. In the second half it was the other way round. The tries were scored by James Canty, Scott Thompson, Jordan Plummer, Ashley Clarke-Walkin and James Canty got two conversions. The final result was 29 –10 to us. We then had after match tea and got showered and changed. After a short break we had dinner and one or two team members started to flirt with the girls. We next played cricket in the PE hall and then we had a swim in the school pool. We all went to bed exhausted after a hard day.By Stuart Allford.Rugby Tour Day 2
Unfortunately most of us woke up around 6:00 and the boarding school breakfast was looming overhead. As well as that we had to strip the sheets off our beds and get into our school uniform. Then we went down to breakfast and I think we all had scrambled eggs with spaghetti hoops and toast. After that we got all of our bags packed and did our teeth. Straight after we went to the assembly hall and heard some songs played by a girl and a boy. Also James Burley presented the school shield to the headmaster of Newlands School, receiving in return a tie and a pen. Mr James, Mr Hunt and Mr Duckworth got ties as well. After that we put all our bags in the schools trailer and set off. It took about a 1hr 30mins to get to Vine hall school. To our surprise we were there a bit earlier than expected. So they gave us a tour of the school and then we joined in with some fun and games that they were doing in a lesson.Kick off: The weather was awful, it was drizzling down on us and it was freezing cold. The wind was blowing against us. We took the kick off and we were going down hill. In the first half, about 10mins in, Scott Thompson got over the try line with the help of the other forwards. As well as that James Canty got the ball through the posts so the score settled 7-0 to St Dunstan's. But nearly straight away they evened the score to 7-7.Second half: James Burley went through the team plan and we set off. We were receiving the ball but we were now going up hill so we had to work harder. We were about 5mins into the second half and James Canty made a break for the try line but unfortunately he got put into touch. There was a line out 10 metres away from the try line. Stuart skilfully passed the ball to James Canty and with the help of the driving forwards he got over the line. But unfortunately we missed the conversion becausethe ball skimmed the outside of the post. That made the score 12-7 to St Dunstan's. Then finally the whistle blew and we were overjoyed, even though frozen, that we had won the match. We were a very happy bunch of people and had a very happy Mr James.By Elliott Russell
