ICT in The Junior School

Work in Progress..

All pupils in the Junior School have one ICT lesson a week where computer skills are taught. These lessons, apart from Reception classes, are taken by specialist teachers using one of the two ICT suites. Children have access to a wide range of software including microsoft office as well as specific software aimed at younger users, for example 2simple and superlogo. It is hoped that ICT becomes a tool for learning in all areas of the curriculum. Pupils are often taken to the ICT suites for work in other curriculum lessons by their class teachers or subject specialists. Children in the Pre-Prep also have computers in their classrooms which they use to support their work.
If pupils wish to complete certain pieces of Homework using a computer at home they are welcome to do so having checked with the member of staff who has set the work. It can then either be printed at home or brought into school on a floppy disk which must be given to a member of staff to be virus checked before printing on the school system.
To see examples of the work that the children have been working on in their ICT lessons click on the relevant folder in the blue bar at the top of this page.
