Junior School Religious Education
St Dunstan’s College is a Christian foundation which recognises the contribution other faiths make in society. RE in Key Stage 1 is mainly taught through cross-curricular topic work by the class teacher and departmental assemblies. We aim in Key Stage 1 to introduce children to the basis of different religions and moral concepts, which can be expanded upon in Key Stage 2. At Key Stage 2 RE seeks to promote knowledge and understanding in conjunction with the skills and attitudes associated with Religious Education through a well-balanced programme of study. Social and moral aspects of RE are developed in whole school assemblies using a variety of resources. Major festivals of various religions are remembered through the year.
