Chemistry Laboratory Rules

Rules are necessary in the laboratory for two reasons:

  • To ensure that everyone works safely, taking care of themselves and those around them.
  • To provide a good learning environment.

The following list of rules should be understood and followed whenever you are in a Chemistry laboratory:

  • Always listen to instructions from the teacher. Ignoring them may be dangerous.
  • Follow experiment instructions carefully. Experiments may be unsafe if not carried out in the prescribed way.
  • Safety glasses must be worn throughout every experiment and only removed when everyone has finished.
