Revision Stuff

Revision style is a very personal thing, no two people revise best in the same way. However, some good general advice follows:

  • Go over the work as many times as you can. The more times you re-read something, the more chance you have of remembering the information.
  • Transform information from one form (e.g. lesson notes) into another (e.g. revision cards, spider diagrams etc.). This way of revising makes you think about the information rather than just re-writing it without involving your brain.
  • The hardest examination questions are those that test your knowledge and understanding by getting you to apply what you have learned in an unfamiliar context. Work through revision questions (loads of them!) to get lots of practice. Get your work marked, ask if you are still uncertain, then correct any mistakes.
