The Year 9 course builds on the Chemistry learnt previously and continues to lay foundations for the forthcoming GCSE course. Pupils are taught in sets and have one double and one single period a week. Lessons are largely practical based, with experiments or demonstrations being carried out whenever possible. Learning by making observations and carrying out short investigations is very much encouraged. Each pupil has been issued with a copy of Key Science - Chemistry, by Eileen Ramsden.
