This year has been both busy and exciting for The Modern Languages Society.
There have been numerous trips abroad, cultural presentations made by the assistants and, most importantly the new addition of the Modern Languages Day .
The Society is aimed at furthering the students' knowledge and
understanding of different cultures and, this year we were fortunate enough to learn of countries as diverse as La Réunion and Colombia.
The society has also managed to establish a balance between education and social activities. This year there has been the ever-successful Society dinner, providing the perfect atmosphere for the students and teachers to relax and celebrate the Society's achievements, as well as various day trips for the younger pupils.
The most important aspect of the society is that everyone is given the chance to become involved: there are opportunities for the French, Spanish and German students to increase their awareness of the language they are studying in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. The various exchanges and trips abroad have also provided the students with the ability to practise
the language they are learning in it's native country, an essential part of learning a foreign language.
I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of one of the most vibrant and buzzing Societies in the school and, would like to thank all the Modern Languages teachers and Society members for helping the Society to thrive and succeed. I would also like to thank Chris Benyayer for being a wonderful Secretary and Karl Lawson for all his help with the PR. I hope that next year's President will enjoy the same enthusiasm and commitment that I received.
Good luck and enjoy
Rhiannon Rees (ML Society President)
