THE TEAM

Geography is a dynamic subject taught by a group or four dedicated and energetic Geography teaching specialists. We have a wealth of experience combined with a progressive approach to the teaching of the subject which includes the integral use of ICT.

HEAD OF DEPARTMENT              Mr N Adriano BA, Dip. Cart.

The picturesque Oxfordshire town of Henley-on-Thames is the birthplace of the Head of Geography since 2001, Nicholas Adriano, and not Italy as his surname suggests.

"I obtained my B.A. Honours in Geography in 1987 from the University of Portsmouth. In 1988 I gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Cartography from Glasgow University, which lead to me working for three years as a cartographer in the public and private sectors. My PGCE in Geography and Physical Education was received from Reading University in 1992. Since then I have taught at two very successful Grammar schools and I am very proud to continue my career at St. Dunstan’s College. I am heavily involved in the extra-curricular life of the school coaching junior rugby and the College’s senior basketball squad. I am married and although we have no children our time is pleasantly occupied looking after our cat, Samson. My interests include science fiction, reading (crime/thriller stories), most sports and most importantly fine wine and food."

Ronnie Lea  BA

Ronnie Lea was born in the wild, wet, northwest of England. With his love of all things from the northwest he obtained his B.A. Honours Degree in Geography from the University of Lancaster. He also studied for B.A. Honours Degree in Geology from the OU. After completing his studies he has taught for 25 years in such diverse environments as Bootle, Liverpool and Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

"Although specializing in Geography and Geology I have taught Maths and rather surprisingly English. My main Geographical interests are in meteorology and current geo-political trends in the E.U. I have been at St. Dunstan’s since 1990 and beyond my teaching I am the College's Senior Housemaster and am also heavily involved in sports; coaching born Rugby, Cricket and the Golf team (personal handicap 12)."

Martin Leang BSc, MA, AKC
Martin Leang was born in Lichfield (just North of Birmingham), and was educated at King’s School Worcester (Cathedral Choral Scholarship). He gained his B.Sc. Honours degree in Geography and Geology at King’s College, London University in 1975, and his M.A. (Geography) at the London University Institute of Education in 1987. In the early Eighties he left teaching for three years to work as a geologist involved in oil exploration. During this time he travelled widely, including Norway, Germany, Denmark, Spain and Egypt (mostly on offshore drilling platforms!). He is married (his wife is also a teacher!) with two daughters, aged 11 and 14. He has taught Geography at St. Dunstan’s since 1987, and has been in charge of the College archives since 1999. His interests are singing (in his local church choir on Sundays, and the College choir), hill walking, cycling, reading (fiction and non-fiction) and cricket (qualified N.C.A. cricket coach).
