The Physics Department

What is Physics?
  • Physics is the study of the way the universe works and attempts to describe and explain the behaviour of matter and energy in terms of LAWS.
  • The Laws of Physics allow predictions to be made and are therefore vital tools, be it in the design of a new medical diagnostic tool or in the construction of a bridge.
  • The Laws of Physics are constantly tested and refined as more evidence becomes available.

St.Dunstan’s College teaches Physics as a separate subject from Year 8 through to Upper Sixth. As well as teaching towards recognised qualifications in Physics, we try to offer stimulating contexts in which to study the subject.
