• The Upper Sixth OCR Advancing Physics course builds on the ideas introduced in the AS course, and different models of the physical world are compared; quantum physics, astrophysics, thermodynamics, radioactivity and force fields provide complementary views of the physical world.

• The modules studied are: "Rise and Fall of the Clockwork Universe"; "Field and Particle Pictures".

• Practical work becomes more self-directed, culminating in an assessed practical investigation.

• Students begin to read more widely and must perform their own research project as part of their coursework.
