Year 8
  • Space exploration is the central theme around which the course in Year 8 is based, beginning with a journey to the planets of the Solar System.
  • Light is studied in the laboratory with reference to starlight, and electrical circuits are investigated; pupils are asked to consider the problem of running and controlling a spaceship.
  • In the Gravity and Forces topic, pupils are introduced to the variety of forces and pressure an astronaut would be subject to.
  • Pupils learn about energy transformations and resources and relate this to space flight and the way in which energy can be used.
  • A separate program of Cognitive Acceleration through Science Education (CASE) is taught.
